Abundance Doesn't Always Look the Way We Expect

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about abundance.

We often think of abundance as more.

More money.
More clients.
More opportunities.
More time.
More certainty.

And when the “more” we’re hoping for doesn’t arrive, it can be easy to focus on what feels like it’s missing.

I know I’ve done that.

But lately, the Universe has been reminding me that abundance doesn’t always show up where—or how—we expect it to.

Sometimes it shows up as a room filled with women who come together simply to connect, learn, breathe, laugh, and support one another.

Sometimes it’s a new relationship formed through a conversation or a connection we never could have planned.

Sometimes it’s someone saying, “How can I help?”

And sometimes…it looks like a pile of coats.

Recently, I had the idea to organize a coat and jacket drive through the Spring-Ford Chamber of Commerce. What began as a simple thought has started to grow in ways I never anticipated.

Businesses have offered to collect. People have reached into their closets. One local company not only offered to hold its own collection for us but also offered to purchase brand-new coats and jackets. And today, I picked up our first collection of donations from Limerick Township.

Standing there looking at those coats, I felt something much bigger than the coats themselves.

I saw abundance.

Not abundance measured by what any one person had—but by what people were willing to give.

People donating something to someone they may never meet.

People helping without needing recognition.

People simply seeing a need and responding.

And it made me wonder...

How often are we so focused on what we believe is missing that we overlook what is already overflowing?

Maybe abundance isn’t always about receiving more.

Maybe it’s having something we’re able to give.

Maybe it’s having an hour to spend with someone we love.

Maybe it’s having a gift or talent that can help another person.

Maybe it’s a conversation that arrives at exactly the right moment.

Maybe it’s community.

Maybe it’s simply recognizing that even during seasons when one part of our life feels a little quiet, something else may be blooming right beside it.

We just have to notice.

I believe our bodies are a little like that, too.

We sometimes become so focused on what hurts, what isn’t working, or what we wish were different that we forget how much our bodies are doing for us every single moment.

Our bodies are always communicating.

Always adapting.

Always seeking balance.

Always carrying an innate wisdom and capacity for healing.

Sometimes we simply need to become quiet enough to listen.

Perhaps that is what abundance is asking of us, too.

Not to constantly chase more.

Not to compare.

Not to decide what it should look like.

But to pause long enough to recognize what is already here.

So as we move through this season of change, I’m reminding myself to look around.

To notice.

To receive.

To give when I can.

And to trust that something can still be growing—even when it isn’t growing in the place I’ve been watching.

Because sometimes abundance doesn’t look anything like what we expected.

Sometimes...

it looks like a pile of coats. 🧡
